Join us for a series of art song performances. These concerts are performed by Ethan McGrath and guest singers.
Tonight’s guest singer is Janelle Wagoner, Soprano.
In this second event of the Chattanooga Art Song Series, soprano Janelle Wagoner and pianist Ethan McGrath will perform three song cycles by American composers: Samuel Barber's Hermit Songs, Aaron Copland's Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson, and Alice Parker's On Recollecting.
The texts of Barber's 'Hermit Songs,' translated from anonymous texts by medieval Irish monks, pair surprisingly well with poems written centuries later by Emily Dickinson, who was something of a hermit herself—both are disarmingly simple, witty, and even subversive at times. It is rare to get to hear these cycles performed live in their entirety, so we hope you'll join us for this special event on April 9.

These concerts are being offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a suggested donation of $20.00. The monies are for Ethan McGrath and company.
